Afar the constant screeches and smokes of city, Andaman and Nicobar is a staunch follower of eco-tourism and believes in preserving its ecosystem. Lying in The Bay of Bengal, it is home to expansive marine life. The region is so rich in the context of marine life that a lot many species are still unknown to the humans. And not just marine life, the thickness of the forests in more than three-fourth of the region is indefinable and unimaginative.

The kinds of forest that covers the region are; Wet bamboo brakes, Cane breaks, Giant evergreen forest, Andaman tropical evergreen forest, Southern hilltop tropical evergreen forests, Andamans moist deciduous forest, Andaman secondary moist deciduous forest, Mangrove forest, Littoral forest, Brackish water mixed forest and Submontane hill valley swamp forest.

Talking about human settlement, Andaman and Nicobar has a population of about 380,500 people as of the 2012 census. The local population belongs to different tribes and reflects varied cultures. Some of the most common languages of Andaman and Nicobar are Bengali, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu and Nicobarese.

With rapidly improving infrastructure and connectivity with airports, Andaman Islands now enjoy wide range tourist activities and tourist arrivals. In fact Andaman and Nicobar Islands are the best place in India to go for diving, snorkeling, scuba diving and water sports such as surfing.

While the Andaman and Nicobar archipelago consists of more than 300 islands, only a few are open for tourism activity due to their sensitive nature and the primitive tribes that reside on the parts of islands. From tourism point of view, Havelock is one of the most popular tourist places in Andaman with home to some exotic beaches.
